Good news! -- at long last!

So, I've been posting ads on Craig's list to sell my 2008 Prius, and no hits for several weeks. Then, my cousin Sindy helped me post an ad for the car on an electronic BBS that many Taiwanese nationals in the U.S. frequently use. And the car sold in less than a week!!!

Well, I didn't get my full asking price, but I did get $300 over my bottom price. I think I did good! And! Today, I posted three auctions on Ebay, and someone already bought a pair of John Fluevog boots at the Buy-It-Now price. I'm soooo happy!!! I hope the other two auctions do as well. *fingers crossed*

I still have to post a few more auctions, but this streak of good fortune has me pumped!

And fortunately my mom left for a European cruise yesterday. No raining on my parade! *does victory dance* Man, when I was negotiating with the guy about the car, she nearly ruined the whole thing. She has this great need to sabotage important events in my life just to tell total strangers about how awful her daughter is. She didn't like the idea of my selling the car despite the fact that I will be gone for AT LEAST three years. What the hell am I supposed to do with the car for three years??? So, she told the guy that I was "in such a rush to sell" -- as if that's not a big invitation to lower the price! Then she told him that I had offered the car to my brother but he didn't want to buy it. Wonderful! Of course, the guy was all, "why doesn't your brother want the car" -- in other words, what's wrong with your car???

He ALMOST called off the deal over email later that night, but thankfully I talked him around, and he came by with the deposit this afternoon. Yay!!!

It's sad that my life feels so much less stressful and I feel happier with her gone. Am I a bad daughter like she always says I am???

Wow, this is all good stuff, including the part about your mom going on vacation. Don't worry about whether you're a good daughter.

When does the new job start?

The job starts with the new semester, so in Taiwan that's February. I'm excited and so, so, so scared!!! Still need to book my flight and book a mover/shipper for my stuff. I've been spending the last few weeks researching and evaluating different companies, but it's so nerve-wracking to decide on someone both affordable and reliable... and you probably don't want me babbling like this.

So... February. Yeah.

I wonder if I have any information (second hand!) about this from knowing people who moved to Israel. I'll ask around.
